About

My name is Rod Donald, I’m a husband, dad, and photographer based in Melbourne, Australia.

My first career passion was acting, which I embraced in my teens through television extra work on such timeless classics as “The Flying Doctors” and “Australia’s Most Wanted”.  With a perfect face for radio, I learnt in my twenties that the camera “loved me” standing behind it, not in front of it!

I specialise in weddings and underwater portraits; however, I also love photographing everything from landscapes to babies. I feel especially qualified to photograph weddings having been married twice myself, granted it was to the same person both times and I failed to hire a photographer either time, ahhhh regrets I’ve had a few.  What did I learn about weddings from my own? Firstly, no matter how laid back, calm, and casually, you approach the day, it will be emotionally charged, overwhelming, scary, nerve wracking, and (hopefully) euphoric. Secondly the day will defy the universal laws of time and will seem to happen so fast that you’re left with a blurry memory of who was there, and a bare recollection of whether you spoke to them or not.

My strengths as a wedding photographer include: tapping into the emotion of the day without intruding in the moment, maintaining a sense of humour, and ensuring that the blurry bits are sharply captured.

My interest in underwater photography stems from being raised in the wild by dolphins and not having any family photos to reminisce with….or maybe I just love the water and find making photos’ under the water produces stunning images that are really unique.

Please have a buzz around my website, if you like what you see send me an email and I'll get back to you ASAP. I promise to genuinely answer any questions, and not put any pressure on.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy life to read this far,
